Don’t miss your opportunity to learn how you can join the Snowbelt Landowners Group and also gain important information about recent developments in New York State

Currently we have no meetings scheduled; however, feel free to organize your
own meeting and invite us to come and speak to your group.  We have also been
attending local Town Board meetings to keep your town on the right track and ready
when fracking comes to New York.  We believe it is coming.  It is just a matter of time.

New News:
Some members of our group asked to post this message:

"A group of landowners in the Southern Tier that support hydraulic fracturing, want to send a strong message to Gov. Cuomo and his supporters.  Our state officials want to ban hydraulic fracturing. It would send a powerful message if farmers, timber companies and large land owners banded together in protest by closing most public trails crossing their private properties, including the Finger Lakes Trail and conservation trails that cross the Southern Tier.

The suggestion is that if everyone posted all of their properties showing the state we mean business, and end any type of recreation we allow people to enjoy for FREE, leaving only for family and friends to enjoy.

Allegheny County is near the poorest county in the state, imagine how drilling could give them a boost.

Environmental protesters and green tree-huggers need not comment, we've all heard your side and so has the state."

If you have any questions or input, please call Don @358-3735.

Thank you.

  In Past News:

We attended the IOGA of NY annual meeting on November 6-7 at the Hyatt Regency in Buffalo, New York.  We had an opportunity to meet with our Legislators and the hope was to take back New York from Governor Cuomo.  As you know that was not possible and we have to continue to fight for our rights to develop our lands or demand compensation.

We attended the NAPE Convention East in Pittsburgh, PA on April 11th and 12th.
We made many connections with exploration and production companies who are
waiting for New York to lift the ban so they can take advantage of the holdings they
already do have.  We also spoke with representatives from large drillers such as
Exxon, BP, Range Resources and Chesapeake who do have interest in drilling here
in New York.  In fact, it is rumored that Exxon spent big money last year in New
York, lobbying for drilling opportunities.  There was a presence of more than half a
dozen New York companies with their focus on near future opportunities in
exploration and drilling.  We will continue to stay in touch with key players in the
drilling industry as we wait for the announcement of the Department of Health Study
expected to be released any day.

It is more important than ever for you to contact the Governor and let him know we have a
voice in the southern tier and that we have a vital interest at stake in drilling in this area.
We need to educate him on the facts about why the Utica Shale is more important and
materially different than the Marcellus Shale.  Please let him know that drilling in the Utica
Shale is best for New York State considering the issues that to have been propelled by the
downstate celebrities.  We know that Utica is 2000 ft deeper, resulting in a buffer of several
thousand feet between the frack zone and the bottom of any aquifer.

The actual fairway for drilling into the Utica probably does not extend any further east than
Chemung County because the Utica gas likely becomes overmature at that point. There is
no concern about radioactivity because there was no plant life during the Ordovician period,
when the Utica shale layer was formed. In short, many of the political issues that face the
Governor about drilling in the Marcellus do not exist with the Utica.

Therefore, The Governor should be aware that this type of drilling is wanted and needed
here, and he should not shut off the entire state from drilling because of concerns that
don't apply to our area or our geology. The advantage is that all of the drilling will be moved
further south and west, to the poorest area of the state, and some 300 miles away from any
of the farms owned by what appear to be ill-informed celebrities.

You can help by calling, sending letters and emails to Governor Andrew Cuomo
expressing your support for natural gas drilling:

         Phone number:  518-474-8390

   Email: http/www.governor.ny.gov/contact/GovernorContactForm.php

Regular mail:      The Honorable Andrew M. Cuomo, Governor of New York,
                                         NYS State Capitol Building,
Albany, NY 12224

What is the benefit of attending a meeting on the fracking process?

We can explain common lease terms, and help you make an informed decision as to whether you will allow fracking on your land.

  • You will have the opportunity to join a large group of landowners in the western New York area, so that you have a greater ability to negotiate more favorable lease terms.
  • You will learn the different methods of payments, including sign-on bonuses and royalty percentages, that are commonly used in the lease.
  • You will learn that the existence of old wells or shallow wells does not preclude you from leasing deep rights to hydrofracking companies.
  • You will have the opportunity to discuss marketing your property to different oil and gas production companies.
  • You will learn about how we insist that various terms of the lease be in writing so that landowners are protected in the future.
Burgett & Robbins LLP and Morascyzk & Polochak are well respected attorneys and shale consultants, who have extensive experience in handling the unique challeges and opportunities associated with hydrofracking. By partnering with consultants who have worked FOR LANDOWNERS in other states, we feel we can offer the best representation possible in successfully negotiating lease documents with the large drilling companies.
